The broker · Dipl.-Ökonom (graduate economist)

Christoph Grüneberg, your personal domain broker.

I personally handle the purchase, sale and negotiation of premium domains on your behalf, drawing on market knowledge, a clear case for the domain’s value and discreet outreach.

My domain experience goes back to 1997: that is when I registered my first domain and then built my own projects and websites. I have been trading internet addresses professionally since 2003. This includes more than 12,000 domain transactions supported as an investor, broker and expert appraiser, millions of euros in transaction volume, several domain and portfolio sales in the six-figure range, and live auctions that I organized with a total volume of more than €1 million. Since 2006, I have been a member of DENIC eG, the registry for .de domains, through my companies.

Industry and network

Connected in the domain industry for more than two decades

For years, I helped shape the German domain scene as publisher of the Domainvermarkter-Magazin and organizer of the Domainvermarkter-Forum (a German-language domain industry magazine and forum). On the subject of domain trading, the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, the trade magazine Werben & Verkaufen and the public broadcaster SWR, among others, have consulted me as a source; as a speaker, I have appeared at industry conferences such as Domainpulse, Domainfest and OMCap. My book “Der Domainkauf-Ratgeber” (a German-language guide to buying domains) is due out in fall 2026.

For me, these activities were never just publications, talks or conference dates. Over many years, they have grown into a personal network within the German and international domain industry, with domain investors, brokers, registrars, marketplaces and other market participants.

This network is still part of my practical work today, especially when domain owners have to be researched, contacts made or special transactions prepared. Meeting people in person at industry events such as Domainpulse, NamesCon or the Domain Summit remains part of that to this day.

Settlement can be handled through my company, QBK Schutzrechte Treuhand GmbH: written purchase agreement, escrow and supported domain transfer. Depending on the transaction, external escrow and transaction services can also be used by agreement.

What you can expect from me: an honest assessment (even when my advice is not to proceed), clear recommendations, straightforward decision-making and discretion. You can reach me directly: Contact form · LinkedIn

Perspective

I know both sides of the negotiation

My experience does not come from brokerage alone. Over many years, I have bought, sold and valued domains myself and held them as an investor. As a result, I know how a domain owner thinks, and I equally know the situation of a buyer who needs a specific domain for a company or project.

This perspective is especially helpful in difficult negotiations: a good deal does not come about because one side “wins”, but when the price and terms become acceptable for both sides.

Infrastructure

Brokerage and settlement within one structure

Domainbroker.de is a brand of QBK Schutzrechte Treuhand GmbH. As a DENIC member, QBK has its own infrastructure for managing .de domains and handling them technically. This allows brokerage, contract, escrow and domain transfer to be supported in a coordinated way.

Settlement does not necessarily have to go through QBK. Depending on the transaction, the wishes of the parties and the international setup, external escrow and transaction services can also be used. The suitable approach is agreed case by case.

The service in detail

What does a domain broker do?

A domain broker mediates between domain owners and prospective buyers, much like a real estate agent between property owner and buyer.
